I’m at Emerson College in Boston today. Our daughter is a freshman here. I’ll be in 3 or 4 classes today, talking about leadership, non-profit managment, marketing, advocacy. I believe I’ll be going to more classes today than my daughter. Although I have heard that she does go to classes, participates and even writes papers. I find this comforting.
I’ve also heard that she will finish her freshman year in less than 4 weeks. In fact, Scout told me this last night over dinner at the Trident. I had the chicken quesadilla.  Scout had soup and carrot cake. Not an obvious pairing but it worked for her.
In three weeks, Scout will no longer be a college freshman. So much work, so little time. I could see the panic in her face.
In three weeks, she will be home for the summer. Â Â She could probably see the panic in my face.
Hey, Joan, it was great hearing you talk at Emerson. I was the person photographing you in the Marketing class. I am editor of the college magazine, which Scout will receive once she graduates. I am from NJ originally, near New Brunswick. I hear that Montclair is the ‘cool’ place to live now!
Hi Joan,
It was an honor having you on faculty for the day. A fan of your blog for sometime, your spoken word is equally powerful! Thanks again for being such an amazing storyteller.
Hi Joan,
Thanks so much for spending time with us at Emerson. You were spectacular! Your comments on leadership provided us all with a set of sign posts, and likely increased all of our to do lists. Your insight coupled with a magnificent sense of humor made your visit all too short.
Many thanks,
Jackie Liebergott
I am one of the Graduate students, and after reading the above comments I wonder why it was not announced (to the whole Emerson community) that you’d be on campus..
Joan – do you plan to visit the school again soon?
