Andrew is a good fellow and has been the steady boyfriend for about a year. Ben and Kit are clear that he is their favorite of Scout’s boyfriends. I would argue that it’s not been much of a competition. Still, Andrew is a good fellow. And quite handsome with that mustache, don’t you think? What we especially appreciate about him is that he never misses an opportunity to share with Scout just how much she means to him. He left the morning we left for Boston – he and his family were off to Miami to visit his brother. Their farewell was tearful and Scout made Andrew promise that he would text her from the airplane before the plane took off. Ever the dutiful boyfriend, Andrew sent a text as promised. I’m pretty sure Scout was anticipating a warm text reminding her just how much he would miss her. Instead, his romantic parting words were:
“Our checked luggage was three pounds too heavy so my parents took the kielbasi out.”
The good news is that Scout thought this was as funny as we did. And to think that Andrew could creatively work the word “kielbasi” into a tender farewell message made me like him even more.
